KARACHI: Pakistan’s aviation sector has received a significant boost as the Civil Aviation Training Institute (CATI) has been granted membership of the Airports Council International (ACI).
The Civil Aviation Training Institute is an important subsidiary of the Pakistan Airports Authority. Officials said that the inclusion of CATI in the international body is a matter of pride for Pakistan’s aviation industry.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Director stated that joining Airports Council International is a major honor for Pakistan. He added that senior officials from global civil aviation organizations regularly visit the institute to conduct professional training courses.
According to officials, the institute currently offers 208 internationally recognized aviation training courses. Civil aviation experts from more than 48 countries have already received training from the institute.
Training courses at CATI are mandatory for officers and staff of the Pakistan Airports Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority. Airports Council International has members from 170 countries worldwide.
The government has assigned the Ministry of Defence the task of bringing Pakistan’s aviation sector in line with international standards, officials confirmed.
