ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has conferred the highest civilian award “Nishan Pakistan” to senior Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani in recognition of his services, sacrifices and courageous leadership of the Kashmiri nation in the struggle for independence of Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, President Dr. Arif Alvi presented Syed Ali Gilani with the Pakistan Insignia during a prestigious ceremony held at the Presidency in Islamabad on the occasion of Independence Day. Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders received the award on behalf of Syed Ali Gilani.
The Senate of Pakistan on July 27 unanimously passed a resolution in recognition of Syed Ali Gilani’s services and sacrifices for a just solution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.
The ceremony paid rich tributes to Syed Ali Gilani for his unwavering determination, dedication, fearless leadership and exposing Indian atrocities, cruel tactics and human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. On this occasion, serious concern was also expressed over the continuous house arrest of Syed Ali Gilani at the age of 90 years.
Syed Ali Gilani was announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan while addressing a special session of the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Exploitation Day on August 5.
