Pakistan, Azerbaijan to enhance trade, investment

Two countries identify nine initial priority areas for preferential trade.   

ISLAMABAD: Officials of Pakistan and Azerbaijan are holding discussions to enhance trade and investment in different sectors.

The visit of the Azerbaijan President lham Aliye’s to Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is aimed at exploiting the vast opportunities of trade and other cooperation between the two countries.

Soon after his arrival in Islamabad on Thursday, the Azeri president and the prime minister of Pakistan held a media talk where they spelled out their plan yo promote trade and investment worth billions of dollars.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif  said Pakistan and Azerbaijan have immense investment potential worth billions of dollars in years to come.

He said the two countries have agreed to enhance bilateral trade as well besides investment in different sectors.

The Azeri president said his country looks forward to build a strong partnership with Pakistan at economic and trade level. He said that the two countries have identified nine initial priority areas for preferential trade.    

“Today we discussed several projects in areas of energy infrastructure and defence industry,” he added.
