Pakistan-Born Engineer’s Firm Acquired by Veeam for $1.73 Billion

NEW YORK: US-based software giant Veeam Software has announced the acquisition of Securiti AI, an artificial intelligence driven data security company founded by Pakistani-born engineer and entrepreneur Rehan Jalil, in a deal valued at $1.73 billion.

The transaction ranks among the largest technology acquisitions of 2025. Through this deal, Veeam aims to integrate data privacy, governance, and AI trust management tools from Securiti AI into its existing suite of cloud and data-resilience products.

After completion of the acquisition, Rehan Jalil will join Veeam as President of Security and AI, where he will lead the company’s global initiatives in data protection and artificial-intelligence governance.

Rehan Jalil obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, followed by a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Founded by Jalil, Securiti AI provides enterprise-grade solutions for data security, privacy automation, governance, and AI trust management. The company has earned global recognition for its “Data Command Center” platform, enabling organizations to securely manage and govern sensitive information across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
