BARCELONA: The Consulate General of Pakistan in Barcelona marked Kashmir Exploitation Day on August 5 with a solemn ceremony and photo exhibition, expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and condemning Indian human rights violations.

The program opened with Qur’anic recitation and a national song, followed by an exhibition depicting the suffering of Kashmiris under occupation.

Consul General Murad Ali Wazir called August 5, 2019 “a dark day” when India illegally revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. He affirmed Pakistan and its Armed Forces stand firmly with Kashmiris, stating: “Our silence is not weakness. A new Pakistan stands as an unyielding wall against the enemy. This is the nation’s struggle, not just the army’s.”

He urged unity, tolerance, and mutual respect, warning against divisive rhetoric. Condemning daily atrocities in Kashmir, he urged Spain and the EU to raise the issue in the European Parliament as they do for Palestine.

“We seek peace, not war,” he said. “But Kashmiris must have the right to live. Let us unite for both Palestine and Kashmir.”
