NEW YORK: Pakistan has drawn the attention of the United Nations Security Council to the grave human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the hands of the Indian occupation forces.
In a letter, Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Senator Ishaq Dar also urged the UNSC members to take decisive steps without any further delay to secure the implementation of its own resolutions and end India’s egregious violations of the human rights of the Kashmiri people, in particular the right to self-determination.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram met Ambassador Fu Cong, Permanent Representative of China, who is also President of the UN Security Council, and handed him the letter.
The letter was also copied to the President of the UN General Assembly as well as the UN Secretary General.
It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and army chief General Asim Munir on February 5 renewed Pakistan’s commitment to continue diplomatic, political and moral support to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their movement for the right to self-determination as promised under the UNSC resolutions.
They visited Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir, on Feb 5, which is observed as the Kashmir Solidarity Day every year.
