NEW YORK: Pakistan was elected as a member of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs for a four-year term.
Pakistan was elected to the commission at a meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council in New York.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s UN mission, Pakistan was grateful for the support of the UN Economic and Social Council.
The statement said that being elected as a member of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs shows trust and confidence in Pakistan, which is ready to play its effective role in the global anti-narcotics efforts.
Pakistan has been at the forefront of global anti-narcotics efforts, playing a prominent role against drug trafficking, production and consumption.
At the United Nations, Pakistan has always played an active and constructive role in global drug policy discussions.
