The MoU was signed during a reception hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in honour of the Google team.
Under the agreement, Google will expand its Career Certificates programme, with a target of providing 150,000 certificates in Pakistan during 2026.
Pakistani students will also receive expanded access to Google’s advanced artificial intelligence tools, including Google AI Plus and Gemini, free of charge for one year.
Pakistan and Google have further agreed to cooperate on establishing an AI Centre of Excellence in Islamabad to train young people and develop human resources in line with global market requirements.
The partnership will also focus on strengthening Pakistan’s mobile application and gaming industries, expanding digital payments and e-commerce, and using AI to improve public services and government operations.
AI applications will also be explored for FBR data analytics and agricultural monitoring, including crop forecasting and sustainable farming practices.
The two sides will work to help Pakistani small and medium-sized businesses access international markets through digital platforms.
A joint task force comprising government representatives, Google and relevant stakeholders will also develop a roadmap for increasing Pakistan’s IT exports and competitiveness by identifying barriers and growth opportunities.
The initiative supports Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of taking Pakistan’s IT exports and digital economy to $30 billion by 2030.
