LONDON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphatically declared that Pakistan has won the war on terror, delivering a decisive defeat to its adversaries. He described this victory as a testament to the nation’s unwavering resilience, military strength, and the unity of its people.

Addressing a gathering of overseas Pakistanis in London, alongside Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the Prime Minister stated that Pakistan is now taking the lead on diplomatic, economic, and military fronts — the result of sincere and coordinated teamwork at every level of governance and society.

He emphasized that the country’s economy is undergoing a period of stability, growth, and advancement, crediting these positive developments to the collective efforts of the government, the armed forces, institutions, and the people of Pakistan. Reaffirming his core belief in teamwork, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described it as the essential foundation for any nation’s development and long-term success.

Reflecting on his recent visit to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the Prime Minister said he had effectively conveyed the sentiments and concerns of the Pakistani people to the global community. He stressed that the longstanding Kashmir issue was prominently highlighted in his speech, reinforcing Pakistan’s unwavering support for the rights of the Kashmiri people.

He also stated that Pakistan had played a constructive role in US President Donald Trump’s peace efforts aimed at resolving the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and ending the oppression in Gaza. The Prime Minister described his meeting with President Trump as productive and constructive, expressing confidence that the dialogue would further strengthen Pakistan-US relations.

Acknowledging the critical contributions of the diaspora, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed overseas Pakistanis as a valuable asset, appreciating their significant role in the country’s development through their remittances, investment, and continued engagement with national affairs.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted the government’s unwavering focus on poverty alleviation and its ongoing commitment to the agenda of development and progress. He pointed to a substantial economic turnaround, noting that the interest rate has dropped significantly from 22 percent to 11 percent, and inflation has fallen to just 5 percent — a major improvement in the country’s economic indicators.

Dar further stated that the international community is recognizing Pakistan’s determined efforts on the economic front. He also lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for effectively raising all critical issues, including the Kashmir dispute and the continued oppression in Gaza, during his speech at the UNGA and in all his diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the event.
