Organised through a partnership between the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and Media Cast, the league will feature six franchise teams competing in a 15-day tournament.

The competition is expected to bring together local hockey players and prominent international stars, offering Pakistani athletes opportunities to learn from leading international players and coaches.

The initiative aims to revive hockey in Pakistan by encouraging greater participation from the private sector and sponsors, while establishing a sustainable commercial framework for the sport.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Digital Media Fahd Haroon, Special Assistant on Political Affairs Talha Barki, PHF President Mohiuddin Wani, and Media Cast Chief Executive Officer Salman Danish.

Former hockey greats Hassan Sardar, Shehnaz Sheikh, Shahbaz Senior, Tahir Zaman and Khawaja Junaid also attended the event.

Participants described the Pakistan Hockey League as a significant milestone in efforts to restore the country’s standing in international hockey and create new opportunities for local talent.
