ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that Pakistan may not achieve its economic growth target set for the current fiscal year.
The international lender has revised Pakistan’s economic growth forecast for the current fiscal year to 3 per cent from 3.2 per cent. It estimated that Pakistan’s economic growth target will not be achieved in the current fiscal year, but it also predicted an increase in the economic growth rate compared to last year.
The IMF expects economic growth of 4pc in the next financial year. Last year, the growth rate was 2.5 per cent. However, the IMF stated that Pakistan’s economic growth rate was expected to be 3pc in the current fiscal year.
It may be mentioned here that t economic mangers of Pakistan have set the growth target of 3.6 per cent for the current fiscal year. In October 2024, the IMF had projected Pakistan’s economic growth rate at 3.2 percent for the current fiscal year.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Khan has repeatedly said that due to the prudent policies of the government all economic indicators were showing upward trends.
