Pakistan Pavilion wins international award at USA show

Over 550 tour companies, cruise lines and travel providers form across the world took part in event at New York.

NEW YORK: Pakistan Pavilion set up at the Travel and Adventure Show in New York was today declared as the winner of the “Best In-Show International Tourism Development” Award.

The show was opened on Saturday in which over 550 destinations, tour companies, cruise lines and travel providers form across the world took part.

Pakistan’s ambassador to the US Masood Khan had opened the pavilion in collaboration with Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Pakistan’s Consulate General in New York and private sector companies.

Minister of Tourism Gilgit-Baltistan Ghulam Muhammad, former minister for tourism Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Nasir Ali Khan and Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamer Ahmed Atozai also attended the event.

Ambassador Khan on the occasion said he was proud of Pakistan Pavilion’s recognition as the “Best in Show” at the International Travel and Adventure Show. He urged the participants to visit Pakistan and explore its beauty and heritage.

He also highlighted the country’s tourism potential and said ongoing efforts to provide facilities and infrastructure to incoming tourists would continue.

Minister of State for Tourism and Chairman PTDC Wasi Shah congratulated the team for making the arrangements for setting up the Pakistan Pavilion. He hoped that all these effects will greatly contribute to attract more foreign visitors to Pakistan.

He also said Pakistan was home to ancient and modern civilizations and had the most beautiful touristic sites, including picturesque snow-capped peaks, untouched coastal areas, vast deserts, and a rich cultural heritage.
