According to a Foreign Office statement, the Indian naval vessel maneuvered aggressively in close proximity to a Pakistani vessel, resulting in a collision between the two ships.
The Foreign Office said the incident constituted a serious violation of international law as well as the 1991 bilateral agreement concerning prior notification of military exercises, movements and troop deployments.
India’s chargé d’affaires was summoned to the Foreign Office and formally informed of Pakistan’s strong rejection of the incident.
Pakistan urged India to strictly comply with international law and bilateral agreements, particularly arrangements aimed at preventing untoward incidents at sea.
The Foreign Office also said Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires in New Delhi would lodge a formal protest with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
