Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt Propose 10-Day Iran-US Ceasefire: Report

US, Iran in talks to cool tention

WASHINGTON/DOHA: Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt and other regional mediators have proposed a 10-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran in an effort to ease tensions and create space for diplomatic talks, according to an Axios report.

The report said neither Washington nor Tehran has accepted the proposal so far, with both sides seeking to strengthen their military positions before considering a truce.

According to Axios, US President Donald Trump is weighing two options: accepting a temporary ceasefire to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and facilitate negotiations, or escalating military operations against Iran alongside Israel.

Regional sources told Axios that mediators have intensified diplomatic efforts to broker a pause in hostilities, while US officials said the proposal remains under review.

The report added that ceasefire efforts suffered a setback after an Iranian missile strike in Jordan killed two US soldiers, prompting Washington to harden its stance while continuing diplomatic contacts.
