According to sources, Pakistan will brief the IMF on its economic performance through June 2026 during the upcoming negotiations.

The talks are expected to cover structural benchmarks, economic reform targets and progress on commitments under the existing loan programme.

Sources said discussions would also focus on circular debt targets in the power and gas sectors, which remain key areas under the IMF programme.

Under the fifth tranche, Pakistan is expected to receive around $1 billion under the EFF, along with an additional $200 million aimed at supporting measures related to climate-related losses and resilience.

Pakistan secured the 37-month EFF programme in September 2024. The country received the first $1 billion tranche in September 2024, followed by another $1 billion in May 2025 and a third $1 billion tranche on December 11, 2025.

Successful completion of the review would pave the way for the release of the fifth tranche, providing further support to Pakistan’s external financing and economic stability.
