ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong policy statement today, confirming that the country has the right to take every necessary action in its defense under international law following continued cross-border attacks from Afghanistan.
These attacks have been attributed to militant groups like the Khorasan and Hind factions, as well as provocations by the Taliban regime.
The Ministry clarified that, in response to unwarranted and provocative actions by the Taliban regime on the night of February 26, Pakistan took timely and effective defensive measures to ensure the safety of its citizens and regional security. The statement emphasized that any further provocations from the Taliban will be met with a decisive and robust response.
Pakistan’s defense forces successfully targeted terrorist logistical bases in Afghanistan, dealing a heavy blow to insurgent groups. The operations were said to have been precise, targeting key locations and minimizing collateral damage.
The Ministry reaffirmed that Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary steps for self-defense in accordance with international law. In its statement, the Ministry expressed deep concern over the escalating terrorist activities fueled by the Taliban regime and India’s support for these elements. The Pakistani government continues to emphasize that its efforts for peace and stability in the region have been met with hostility and misinterpretation.
Pakistan further called on the Taliban regime to take concrete steps against terrorist organizations such as Khorasan and Hind, and to immediately cease any support for these groups. The Ministry also appealed to the international community to send a clear message to the Taliban regime, urging them to fulfill their promises and halt their support for terrorism.
Despite the provocations, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to regional peace and stability and stressed that it will continue its diplomatic and political efforts to eliminate terrorism emanating from Afghan soil. The statement made it clear that Pakistan will not tolerate further aggression, and will respond firmly to protect its sovereignty and the security of its people.
