Pakistan Represented at UN Memorial Honoring Fallen Personnel

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, represented the country at the United Nations Annual Memorial Service held at UN Headquarters.

During the ceremony, UN Secretary-General António Guterres paid tribute to 136 United Nations personnel, including peacekeepers and civilian staff, who lost their lives in 2025 while serving in missions related to peacekeeping, development, and humanitarian efforts across the world.

Among those honored was Muhammad Afzal of Pakistan, who died in the line of duty on 20 February 2025 in Addis Ababa while serving with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The memorial service recognized the contributions and sacrifices of UN personnel and acknowledged their commitment to the organization’s mission of promoting peace, international cooperation, and human dignity.

Condolences were extended to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the deceased.
