MOSCOW: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering sustainable economic linkages across the region.
He was addressing the Council of Heads of Government Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) held in Moscow.
Dar outlined Pakistan’s broad and forward-looking vision for regional cooperation, development, and long-term stability.
He said the future of collective progress within the SCO hinges on improving infrastructure development, cross-border connectivity, efficient transport corridors, and modern logistics systems.
He welcomed the SCO’s ongoing efforts in priority sectors such as energy cooperation, digital transformation, scientific advancement, technology innovation, education, and vocational training.
He noted that these fields play a crucial role in accelerating regional economic growth, strengthening institutional capacities, and deepening collaboration among member states.
Dar stressed the importance of joint action to address persistent challenges, including poverty alleviation, socio-economic disparities, and the growing threat of climate change. He cautioned that meaningful and sustainable development cannot be achieved without ensuring peace, security, and political stability across the region.
