Pakistan Seeks Peaceful Resolution to Iran Issue: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Thursday said that Pakistan wants a peaceful resolution to the situation involving Iran, and emphasized its commitment to regional peace and stability.

During a weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andarabi said that Pakistan is closely monitoring developments in Iran and hopes the crisis will be resolved through peaceful means. He added that Pakistan supports stability in the region and expects Iran to overcome its challenges soon.

Commenting on reports regarding restrictions on the processing of immigration visas by the United States, the spokesperson said Pakistan had taken note of the reports. He stated that the US was reviewing its visa policy and that Pakistan viewed this as an internal matter of the United States’ immigration process.

He added that the statement issued by US authorities on the issue was brief and that Pakistan is in contact with US officials to obtain complete information.

The spokesperson also said that any violation of Somalia’s sovereignty is unacceptable. He noted that Pakistan reiterated its position on Somaliland during the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting and strongly condemned Israel’s recognition of Somaliland.
