Pakistan to Play Against India in T20 World Cup on Feb 15

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has announced that the national cricket team will play against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on February 15.

The decision was taken after consultations with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). A government statement confirmed that the national team had been officially directed to participate in the scheduled match against India.

The statement said that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi briefed the Prime Minister on the outcomes of discussions held with ICC representatives and the BCB.

The government reviewed formal requests submitted by the Bangladesh Cricket Board and appreciated the role played by Bangladesh in facilitating the match.

The government also welcomed and acknowledged the statement of gratitude issued by BCB President Aminul Islam, reiterating that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with Bangladesh.

Officials said that several countries, including Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates, had also appealed to Pakistan to ensure the continuation of the high-profile match in the spirit of international cricket.

The government said that the decision reflects Pakistan’s commitment to upholding the spirit of cricket and supporting the continuity of global sporting events. The move was taken in response to requests from participating nations.
