NEW YORK: Acting Consul General of Pakistan in New York Umar Sheikh attended the “America at 250: Civic Education & Community Leadership” event organized by the American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG CARES) to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The event was attended by New York State Senators, Assembly Members, New York City officials, community leaders, and members of the Pakistani-American community.
In his remarks, the Acting Consul General congratulated the people of the United States on the historic milestone and commended APAG CARES, under the leadership of Mr. Ali Rashid, for promoting civic engagement and community leadership.
He noted that Pakistan–U.S. relations are on a positive trajectory, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and dialogue, and highlighted the important role of the Pakistani-American community in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Acting Consul General appreciated APAG CARES and Mr. Ali Rashid for organizing the event and reaffirmed the Consulate General’s continued commitment to engaging with and serving the Pakistani-American community.
