ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has announced that Pakistan will upgrade its diplomatic mission in Afghanistan from a chargé d’affaires to an ambassadorial level.
Speaking on the development, Dar expressed hope that the move will deepen bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of economy and security. “We believe this step will further strengthen trade relations and enhance mutual understanding between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” he said.
He also emphasized that relations between the two neighboring countries are moving in the right direction. Previously, Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul was headed by a chargé d’affaires, a lower-level diplomatic representative.
The decision marks a significant shift in Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement with Afghanistan and reflects an intention to foster closer ties amid ongoing regional challenges.
