Pakistan Urges Global Action to Stabilize Syria Amid Turmoil

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has called on the international community to intensify efforts to support Syria as it navigates a challenging phase of political transition and humanitarian crisis.

Addressing the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, emphasized that sustained global engagement is crucial to fostering stability, reform, and inclusive state-building in the war-torn country.

Ambassador Ahmed highlighted that the persistent threat of terrorism continues to pose a serious challenge in the region.

He also strongly condemned Israeli incursions into southern Syrian territory, labeling the establishment of so-called permanent positions and violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement as highly destabilizing.

He further stressed that any future security arrangements must operate within the United Nations framework and receive the consent of all relevant parties.
