Pakistan Urges Immediate De-escalation of Tensions in ME

UNITED NATIONS: At the United Nations, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar has called for the immediate cessation of escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Addressing the UN Security Council during a session focused on Iran, he urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and to avoid any actions that could further inflame the situation.

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar said that the establishment of a lasting ceasefire and the resumption of the dialogue process are crucial steps toward stability in the region.

He reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for a peaceful resolution of Iran’s nuclear issue, highlighting that recent diplomatic deadlocks concerning Iran’s nuclear program have only complicated the matter further.

He also stressed that a sustainable solution to the conflict requires adherence to tested diplomatic principles, reaffirming Pakistan’s consistent position that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation rather than confrontation.
