Pakistan whitewashed on home ground by Bangladesh

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan again faced a humiliating defeat and was whitewashed at the hands of Bangladesh at the second Test match played at the Cricket Stadium of Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The whitewash of Pakistan on the home ground was second in its Test history. The poor performance of the Pakistan team could not be improved rather it has seen worsening with the passage of time.

The host team lost the second Test to the visiting Bangladesh team by six wickets. Today, the guest team won the match by chasing the target of 185 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Latandas of Bangladesh was declared Man of the Match who scored 138 runs in the second Test. Mehdi Hassan of the visiting team was declared Man of the Series. He took 10 wickets and scored 155 runs.

The first day match could not be played due to rain on Aug 30. On the second day on Saturday, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hassan won the toss and decided to bowl. Abdullah Shafiq and Saim Ayub started Pakistan’s innings but Shafiq was bold in the first over by Taskin Ahmed.

After his departure, Saim Ayub piled up 107 runs in partnership with captain Shan Masood. Masood then was declared LBW after scoring 57 runs. Saim Ayub followed him soon after making 58 runs. Salman Agha with 54 runs remained the third top scorers and other batters could not stay at the crease and were all out for 274. The fourth day was also shortened due to rain.

The visiting team had earlier also won the first Test match in Rawalpindi.
