WASHINGTON: Pakistan has made it clear that it will deliver a strong response to any Indian aggression, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said during an address to the Pakistani community in the United States.

He described overseas Pakistanis as “a source of dignity and pride” and stressed that they are not a “brain drain” but a “brain gain” for the country. “Our progress and prosperity are linked to Pakistanis living across the world,” he said, praising their swift response to natural disasters and other national calls for assistance.

He criticized India’s transnational terrorist activities and human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir, calling recent acts of aggression a “grave violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty” that brought the region to the brink of a dangerous conflict. He cited incidents such as the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada, the case of eight Indian naval officers in Qatar, and the arrest of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Gen Munir thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for his “strategic leadership” in preventing a Pakistan-India war, noting that his second visit to the U.S. within six weeks marked a new phase in bilateral relations. He said Pakistan is pursuing constructive, durable, and positive engagement with Washington, and that a potential trade agreement could bring significant investment.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, calling it an “unfinished international agenda” and reiterating the late Quaid-e-Azam’s statement that “Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan.”

On regional security, Gen Munir warned of terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan, saying, “There will be no sympathy for terrorists, they will face justice.” He also highlighted the misuse of social media by hostile elements to spread chaos.

He added that Pakistan has achieved diplomatic and security successes against India through collective effort, political foresight, and the professionalism of its armed forces.
