The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority said authorities were assessing the financial damage caused by the attack.

King Fahd International Airport in Dammam was also targeted on Sunday evening, while flight operations at both King Khalid and King Fahd airports were suspended. Flights at Jeddah Airport were also affected.

Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition announced that it had intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Eastern Province.

The incident followed a missile attack on Riyadh attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement, Ansar Allah, which reportedly killed 12 people and injured 309 others.

According to officials, the victims included citizens of the United States, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Jordan, Syria, Sudan, Palestine and Egypt.

The situation at the affected airports and the extent of the damage remain under assessment.
