NEW YORK: A 20-year-old Pakistani citizen Shahzaib Kha aka Shahzaib Jadoon has been extradited from Canada to the United States to face terrorism-related charges.
According to U.S. authorities, Khan was allegedly involved in plotting an attack on a Jewish community center in Brooklyn, New York. The Department of Justice stated that Khan had discussed his plans with individuals he believed to be collaborators, two of whom were actually undercover law enforcement officers.
Officials claim Khan expressed his desire to carry out a large-scale attack, reportedly saying, “If we succeed, this will be the biggest attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.”
Khan was arrested in Canada in September 2024 after he allegedly attempted to cross the U.S. border illegally. The charges were filed in the Southern District of New York, and his arrest came following a joint investigation by U.S. and Canadian authorities.
FBI Director Kash Patel said that Khan intended to carry out a mass shooting inspired by ISIS, specifically targeting the Jewish community.
The planned attack was reportedly timed to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the conflict in Gaza. Thanks to timely action by the FBI and its partners, the plot was foiled before it could be executed, the department claimed.
