Pakistani taxi driver shot in New York

NEW YORK: A taxi driver of Pakistani origin was shot in the head by armed men in New York city, police said.

The gunmen shot Navid Afzal, 51, in his taxi and escaped on foot. Police said that they were alerted about the incident and officers reached the spot and found the driver shot in the head.

He was shifted to hospital in critical condition and kept in the ICU. The victim belonged to the city of Faisalabad in Pakistan and eked out a living by driving Uber taxi. His family lives in Pakistan.

The attack on the father of four has shocked not only his family but the whole community. The Pakistani community has demanded that the police arrest the culprits and bring them to justice.

The New York Police said that they were investigating the case and searching to catch the culprits.
