Pakistan’s ambassador visits Bilbao to explore cooperation opportunities

BILBAO (SPAIN): Pakistan’s Ambassador to Spain Zahoor Ahmed accompanied by Trade and Investment Counsellor Muhammad Ali Asghar visited Bilbao to explore new opportunities for cooperation between Pakistan and the Basque region.

During the visit, the Ambassador met with Andrés Caballero, Secretary General for International Affairs of the Basque Government. They discussed collaboration in energy, climate change, technical education, and academic exchanges. The Basque Government showed interest in starting special training programs for Pakistani workers to develop skilled manpower.

The ambassador also met with the Mayor of Bilbao. They agreed to promote cultural programs, university cooperation, and strengthen ties between the cities. The mayor offered to organize a Pakistani cultural festival in Bilbao to encourage cultural exchange.

At the Bilbao Chamber of Commerce, the Pakistani delegation invited local businesses to invest in Pakistan’s mining, agriculture, energy, and tourism sectors. They also invited Spanish investors to visit Pakistan to explore opportunities.

The delegation visited Bizkaia Open Future (BAT), a major technology and startup center in the Basque region. It was decided to provide opportunities for Pakistani startups to enter the European market.

Meetings were also held with Spanish companies interested in hiring skilled Pakistani workers. Ambassador Zahoor Ahmed said, “There is great potential for skilled Pakistanis in Spain, and we will fully support this.”
