ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that Pakistan’s economy was improving, but at this stage we cannot afford political destabilization by launching protest rallies and demonstrations.

The prime minister was chairing a meeting of the apex committee in Islamabad which reviewed the overall security and other matters in the country. He thanked provinces for helping the federal government in the IMF program.

The apex committee meeting was also attended by Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir, the director general of the ISI and the chief ministers of all the four provinces.

He said in order to reap the fruit of improved economy it was imperative for all political parties to sit and thrash out issues and provide relief to the masses. He said that we should think with a positive mind and decide if protest sit-in and rallies are beneficial for the nation.

The prime minister said that the economy had stabilized due to efforts of different stakeholders. Now we have to decide if we should work for the development of the country or go for protests and Dharnas.
