Pakistan’s Global Standing Rose After Victory Against India: Ambassador

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has said that Pakistan’s international stature significantly improved following its victory in the war with India.

He said that the country attained a level of global recognition it had not achieved before.

In a statement here, the ambassador stated that whenever Pakistan and the United States have worked together on joint initiatives, the outcomes have been constructive and result-oriented. He added that Pakistan has consistently played a responsible role in ensuring international security.

Ambassador Sheikh noted that Pakistan–US partnership is aimed at promoting global peace and stability, adding that Pakistan is located in a strategically sensitive region and shares a long-standing relationship with the United States.

He credited the current leadership for a marked improvement in bilateral relations over the past year.

He said that Pakistan and the United States are among the world’s five most populous countries, and strong, positive relations between such large populations are essential in today’s global environment.

Referring to recent developments, the ambassador reiterated that Pakistan’s victory in the war with India enhanced its prestige on the world stage.

He also underscored the importance of diplomacy and media, saying that he personally serves as an adviser in diplomatic efforts and that the media plays a vital role in modern diplomacy.

“Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in the United States is progressing successfully, and members of the media are also stakeholders in this diplomatic process,” he added.
