According to the Foreign Office in Islamabad, Ambassador Sharif conveyed goodwill messages from the President, Prime Minister and people of Pakistan to the German president.
During the meeting, the Pakistani ambassador expressed his commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Germany in trade, investment, energy and green technologies.
The meeting comes as Pakistan and Germany mark 75 years of diplomatic relations. President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Germany this week has been described as an important milestone in further strengthening ties between the two countries.
President Steinmeier welcomed the Pakistani president’s upcoming visit and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace.
