Islamabad’s special anti-terrorism court has delivered a reserved verdict in a case of attack on parliament during a 2014 sit-in.
Special Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Raja Jawad Abbas, while delivering the verdict in the Parliament attack case, honorably acquitted Prime Minister Imran Khan. In this case, the public prosecutor also supported the acquittal of Imran Khan. The court has asked for more arguments on the PTV attack case till November 12.
It should be noted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a sit-in at D-Chowk against the Noon League government in 2014. During the 126-day sit-in, PTI workers broke into state TV and Parliament. Cases were registered against the PTI leadership during the last regime.
In these cases, along with Prime Minister Imran Khan, incumbent federal ministers Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pervez Khattak and other senior PTI leaders were nominated, including Jahangir Khan Tareen, Amir Mehmood Kayani, Aleem Khan, Ejaz Chaudhry, Ali Nawaz Awan and Raja. Khurram Nawaz, Shaukat Yousafzai are also included.
Islamabad’s anti-terrorism court has summoned Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahangir Tareen, Pervez Khattak and all the other accused in the parliament attack case on November 12 for indictment. Withdrew so that the party chairman and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s request for acquittal could be decided soon.
PTI leaders had earlier taken a stand in their petitions that the previous government had filed political cases against them including terrorism provisions, while PTI leaders had again filed acquittal petitions. If done, the indictment may be delayed.
