LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted the preliminary squad for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The PCB has sent the names to the ICC in accordance with the deadline, and it can still make changes to the squad before January 31 without needing ICC’s approval. After the deadline, any changes to the squad will require permission from the ICC Technical Committee.
Along with the initial 15-member squad, the PCB has also submitted the names of reserve players to the ICC.
According to sources, the PCB plans to announce the World Cup squad after the Sri Lanka series and the series against Australia, as it intends to assess the performance of one or two players during the Sri Lanka series.
Reports indicate that the preliminary squad includes players from the Sri Lanka tour, with names like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf among the selected players.
It is noteworthy that the ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held from February 7 in India and Sri Lanka. The Pakistan team will play all its matches in Sri Lanka.
For the Sri Lanka tour, the T20 squad includes captain Salman Ali Agha, Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khwaja Mohammad Nafees, and Mohammad Nawaz.
