PDM govt drops petrol bomb on inflation-hit people
An increase of almost Rs20 per liter announced in prices of diesel abd petrol.
ISLAMABAD: The outgoing PDM government on Tuesday raised the prices of petroleum products putting further burden on the masses already hit hard by rising inflation.
Announcing the new prices at a news conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said the price of high speed diesel is being increased by 19.90 rupees per liter to 273.40 rupees.
He said the price of petrol is being enhanced by 19.95 rupees per liter. After this, the price of petrol will be 272.95 rupees per liter.
The Finance Minister said the new prices, being announced after approval by the Prime Minister will immediately come to effect.
Ishaq Dar said there has been an increase in the prices of petroleum products in the international market over the last fifteen days.
He said the government reduced the prices of petroleum products when these witnessed decline in the international market.
He said we are currently in the IMF program and have to fulfill the international commitments. He said this decision of revising the prices of petroleum products has been taken in the interest of the country.
