Petrol dealers stop fuel supply to fire brigade

Payment stopped due to non-payment of dues for the last five months, say owners

QUETTA: Petrol pump owners in Quetta have stopped supply of fuel to the fire brigade department for non-payment of their dues for the last five months.

The owners said that the provincial government was not providing funds to the fire brigade due to which it could not pay the dues for fuel.

Talking to media, director fire services Abdul Haq Achakzai said that dues amounting to Rs4 million against fuel had not been paid to the petrol pumps owners for the last five months.

He said that if the government did not release funds, the fire services would be closed as there was no supply of fuel.

Some local residents said that the government should clear the dues and ensure regular supply of funds for key departments such as fire brigade to keep them functional and met any emergency.
