LAHORE: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Tariq Bugti has resigned and announced a two-year ban on captain Imad Butt.

In a press conference here, Bugti said his resignation had been submitted to the Prime Minister. He noted that Imad Butt will be barred from domestic and international matches during the suspension.

Bugti criticized the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for mismanaging funds for the Pro League, despite having adequate resources.

He said Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif released PKR 250 million for hockey, but the PSB delayed arrangements, including hotel bookings for the Australia tour.

He requested the Prime Minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir form a committee to investigate the Australia tour mismanagement.

Despite these issues, Bugti highlighted Pakistan’s return to the Pro League after six years, improving its world ranking from 18th to 13th.

He praised Field Marshal Asim Munir and Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti for their support.
