PIA apologizes for ad on flight resumption to Paris

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has apologized for an advertisement about the resumption of its flights to Paris.

According to a foreign news agency, a spokesperson for the national airlines said that the organization had apologized for the ad that created a very wrong impression which was not intended by PIA at all.

He said that unfortunately it was taken out of context but the PIA management was sorry for it.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently ordered an investigation into the advertisement.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar during the session of Senate told the house about the probe. In a point of order, PPP leader Sherry Rehman on a point of order referred to a recent advertisement of the PIA about the resumption of its flights to Europe and said the ad had created a very bad impression, asking who were behind the ad.

In reply, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had ordered an investigation into the ad to fix responsibility. He said the ad showing a PIA plane flying near Eiffel Tower with words like “We are coming today” had sent out a very wrong impression. He said action would be taken against the responsible after completion of the investigation.

Mr Dar said that at present 22 PIA planes by were operational while the others were under repair. He said the PIA would be privatized and it would be better it the corporate sector takes it over.
