ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to withdraw special discounts previously offered to various categories of passengers due to rising jet fuel prices.

According to sources, the airline has discontinued discounted fares for students, senior citizens, journalists, retired military personnel, and Airport Security Force (ASF) staff. Instructions regarding the decision have been issued to staff at all airports.

A PIA spokesperson confirmed the development, stating that all types of concessions have been withdrawn temporarily until fuel prices return to normal levels.

The spokesperson added that the sharp increase in jet fuel costs has placed significant financial pressure on the airline, forcing the administration to take this step.

The move is expected to impact a wide range of passengers who previously benefited from reduced fares.
