KARACHI: The continuing row between aircraft engineers and the management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has severely disrupted the national carrier’s flight operations for the sixth consecutive day.

On Sunday, nine flights had been canceled and eighteen others faced significant delays.

According to sources among the engineers, the disruptions were caused by technical faults in several aircraft and a shortage of essential spare parts.

The affected routes included international flights from Abu Dhabi to Peshawar, Dubai to Karachi, and Faisalabad to Dubai, as well as return flights from Dubai to Faisalabad and from Peshawar to Dubai.

Domestic operations also suffered, with flights between Gilgit and Islamabad, and between Skardu and Islamabad, canceled.

One of the most delayed flights, PK-143 from Islamabad to Al Ain, departed nearly ten hours behind schedule.

In total, eighteen flights experienced delays ranging from three to ten hours, causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers and highlighting the deepening standoff between PIA’s management and its engineering staff.
