KARACHI: PIA resumes flights to Gulf countries as airspace reopens following an Iranian attack on a Qatar air base.

The temporary closure of Gulf airspace had disrupted thousands of flights globally.

Flight operations are now gradually returning to normal, but several delays and cancellations continue to affect major airports in Pakistan.

From Karachi, eight flights to Jeddah, Doha, and Istanbul were canceled, along with two international flights to Dubai. In Lahore, five flights to Sharjah, Muscat, and Riyadh were canceled. Similarly, five outbound flights from Sharjah to Peshawar, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi were also canceled.

A PIA flight from Lahore to Medina was delayed by 13 hours, while a flight to Dammam also experienced delays. In Islamabad, a PIA flight to Dubai was delayed by 15 hours, and two incoming flights from Bahrain to Islamabad were delayed by more than four hours.

Authorities expect full normalization of operations in the coming hours.
