PM, CDF Holds Key Meeting Ahead of US-Iran Talks in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met at the Prime Minister House on Thursday.

The meeting focused on Pakistan’s ongoing mediation efforts aimed at promoting sustainable peace in the region and the US-Iran talks starting in Islamabad on Saturday.

Both expressed satisfaction over recent reductions in tensions and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and a ceasefire. They commended all parties for demonstrating restraint and highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to supporting both sides in reaching a peaceful resolution through dialogue.

Prime Minister Sharif reiterated his invitation to delegations involved in negotiations, assuring them of Pakistan’s full cooperation and high-level hospitality. He also acknowledged the determination of all parties engaged in the peace process and extended best wishes for successful outcomes.

Officials noted that the discussions underscored Pakistan’s continued role as a facilitator in regional peace efforts, reflecting the country’s diplomatic engagement and commitment to stability.

This meeting follows a series of recent diplomatic initiatives by Pakistan, including efforts to mediate between regional actors and support ceasefire agreements, which have drawn international attention.
