ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday appreciated the World Bank’s continued support for Pakistan’s economic development and reform initiatives during a meeting with World Bank President Ajay Banga.
Welcoming Ajay Banga on his first official visit to Pakistan in his capacity as World Bank President, the prime minister said the government values the institution’s role in supporting economic growth and structural reforms. He noted that the government is pursuing a comprehensive reform program designed in line with national priorities and multilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to wide-ranging administrative reforms aimed at promoting employment-driven economic growth. He also praised the World Bank’s assistance in critical sectors including infrastructure, agribusiness, digital development, energy, and the promotion of private investment.
The prime minister described the cooperation under the World Bank Group’s Country Partnership Framework as constructive and forward-looking.
World Bank President Ajay Banga thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and hospitality, commended Pakistan’s ongoing reform efforts, and reiterated the World Bank Group’s commitment to further strengthening collaboration with Pakistan under the “One World Bank Group” framework.
