Says during Quetta visit government will not rest until terrorism is completely eradicated in province.

QUETTA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of the Karachi–Chaman four-lane highway, announcing that the project will be completed within two years.

Speaking to political leaders in Quetta, the prime minister said that terrorists have created challenges in Balochistan similar to those faced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but the government will not rest until terrorism is completely eradicated.

He said that the group referred to as Fitna-al-Khawarij is receiving full support from a neighboring country, adding that a field marshal is leading the armed forces in the war against terrorism. “Just as in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, terrorists have caused difficulties in Balochistan as well, but we will continue this fight until terrorism is eliminated,” he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that provinces are being provided resources under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award. He recalled that former Balochistan chief minister Aslam Raisani had demanded a 100 percent increase in the NFC share, a move that was led by Punjab. He added that Punjab provides Rs11 billion from its own share to Balochistan.

He further said that work on the Karachi–Chaman four-lane highway has officially begun and that Danish Schools are being established in Balochistan to improve access to quality education for children.

Later, while addressing a ceremony in Quetta, the prime minister formally laid the foundation stone of the highway, which is expected to be completed within two years. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister Aleem Khan, the governor and chief minister of Balochistan, and other senior officials were present at the event.

Addressing the ceremony, the prime minister stressed that no compromise would be made on the quality of construction and directed authorities to complete the project before the deadline of December 2027.

He said that the development of Balochistan is inseparable from the development of Pakistan and assured that all possible resources would be provided for the province’s progress. He noted that the Baloch and Pashtun people played a vital role in the Pakistan Movement and emphasized that all four provinces have an equal right to development.
