ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed the Minister for Petroleum to visit the provinces and, in coordination with provincial governments, formulate a comprehensive plan of action for the conservation of petroleum products and to ensure their uninterrupted supply to the public.
Chairing a meeting, he also directed that a digital dashboard be established to monitor the movement of petroleum products.
Through this system, real-time data will be shared with the provinces, enabling authorities to closely supervise the transportation and distribution of petroleum products across the country.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing was presented on the country’s reserves of petroleum products in light of the evolving regional situation. Officials informed the meeting that adequate reserves of petroleum products are currently available to meet the country’s requirements.
The Prime Minister stressed that strict legal action must be taken against hoarders of petroleum products. He said that any petrol pump involved in the nefarious practice of creating artificial shortages should be immediately closed, and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) should cancel its license and initiate legal proceedings against those responsible.
