The directive was issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the prime minister to review electricity load management across the country.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, officials told the meeting that regional tensions, the situation around the Strait of Hormuz and transmission-related difficulties had disrupted RLNG supplies, resulting in lower power generation and a supply-demand gap.

The prime minister directed authorities to take immediate measures to address interruptions in RLNG supplies and make effective use of all available resources to ensure that load shedding remains within the two-hour limit in every area.

He also ordered the establishment of Consumer Grievance Redressal Committees at the distribution company (DISCO) level to address public complaints related to electricity supply and other issues.

Shehbaz directed that the committees include public representation and become operational within one week.

The meeting was informed that electricity consumers can register complaints through helpline 118. Consumers receive a token number after filing a complaint, along with an estimated timeframe for its resolution.

Officials said that, apart from electricity supply disruptions in Rajanpur due to monsoon rains, consumers across the country were not facing weather-related power disruptions.

The meeting was attended by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik, Power Minister Sardar Awais Leghari, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiani and senior government officials.
