ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said ensuring transparency and the timely completion of key national development projects is a top priority for the government.
He announced that he would personally chair the steering committee for reforms related to development projects, which will include stakeholders from both the federal and provincial governments.
A meeting to discuss the action plan for the timely completion of development projects was held at the Prime Minister’s House, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The meeting was briefed on several important proposals presented by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank regarding the timely completion of development projects. One key suggestion was the alignment of human resources with the objectives of the projects.
It was also noted that development projects must be in harmony with the goals and aspirations outlined in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and the Annual Development Plan (ADP).
Furthermore, it was highlighted that delays in development projects are often caused by slow procurement processes. The meeting discussed how the implementation of e-procurement systems and the provision of project readiness facilities could help expedite procurement and reduce delays.
