ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that in view of the recent global developments consultations are ongoing to take further measures to provide relief to the public.
He said timely decisions by the government have ensured an adequate supply of petroleum products in the country at present.
Speaking during a review meeting, the prime minister said that timely decisions by a specially constituted committee have made it possible to maintain a continuous supply of oil for the people.
He stated that measures for national-level austerity and savings have been implemented, and work on additional initiatives is ongoing. Directives for third-party audits have already been issued to ensure the effective implementation of all ongoing austerity and savings measures.
He underlined that economic stability and public relief remain the government’s foremost priorities, and all measures are being taken with a view to providing not only immediate relief but also long-term economic stability.
He added that the government was prepared to deal with any situation arising from global tensions. The Prime Minister instructed petroleum product distribution companies to ensure the sale of oil at government-prescribed rates and to maintain transparency in this process.
During the meeting, the prime minister was briefed on the country’s oil reserves, measures for petroleum imports to meet fuel demand, and steps being taken to provide relief to the public in light of international developments.
