Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar and Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh received the prime minister upon his arrival.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are accompanying Shehbaz Sharif during his visit.
The prime minister is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 25, where he is expected to speak on key global issues as well as the situations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
During his stay in New York, Shehbaz Sharif will also hold meetings with several world leaders and the United Nations secretary-general.
The visit forms part of Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement at the UN General Assembly, where the prime minister is expected to present Pakistan’s positions on major regional and international developments.
